Member for Penrith, Karen McKeown has called out the Liberals for their continued hypocrisy when it comes to planning and housing.
Shadow Liberal Treasurer, Damien Tudehope, stated “our plan is to increase exposure to infrastructure and greenfield sites in affordable areas rather than increasing opportunities for the wealthy.”
These comments were made about potential plans for additional housing in the inner city, repeating a pattern of senior Liberals opposing increased density in their backyards and expecting Western Sydney to cop the shortfall.
Member for Penrith Karen McKeown OAM said:
“People in Penrith are sick of this.
“We spent over a decade taking on additional housing but never getting the necessary infrastructure in return.
“Now the Shadow Treasurer is freelancing on what inner city pet projects he does or doesn’t support.
“Every community needs to take their fair share not just Penrith.
“Who is in charge of housing policy under the new Liberal leadership?
“Visiting Western Sydney isn’t enough, people in my community are sick of people saying one thing in Glebe and Woollahra then another thing in Penrith.
“The NSW Liberals should immediately clarify their plans for housing in Western Sydney.
